Wisdom of the Desert

OLMCdesert5Looking for a unique way to deepen your faith journey this Lent? Our Lady of Mount Carmel invites you to experience Lent through the arts by participating in the second and final installment in our “Wisdom of the Desert” series on Wednesday March 18th.
The evening will feature music, scripture readings, poetry and reflections.

Music will be provided by vocalists Matthew C. Walters-Bowens and Monica Hershenson Thuris as well as pianist Richard F. Grasso.

Walters-Bowens studied at the Westminster Choir College and has sung operatically with the Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, Amore Opera, The Bronx Opera Company, and the Westminster Opera Theater.

Mezzo-soprano, Monica Hershenson Thuris was most recently seen at Carnegie Hall singing in opera scenes with New York Lyric Opera Theater as Siegrune in Die Walküre and Alisa in Lucia Di Lammermoor. She can be seen this June with Utopia Opera reprising the role of Dryade in Ariadne Auf Naxos at Hunter College in New York.

Richard F. Grasso is a 2012 graduate of the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Directing. He is pursuing a theatre career in New York City where he was an intern for the Off-Broadway Drama Desk Award winning Transport Group Theatre Company and asst. directed their off-broadway musical The Memory Show.

The program begins at 7pm in the Church and is free of charge.
