RJ meets the Pope!

Friday, September 25th, 2015

One of OLMC’s own received a very special greeting from Pope Francis this evening as he entered Madison Square Garden to celebrate mass. RJ Sy, Jr.–who was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma in September 2014–was on the floor of the Garden when the Pope stopped to kiss him on the top of the head.

RJ, who lives with his parents and two older sisters (both OLMC Academy students) in Bergenfield, has spent a great deal of time at the Ronald McDonald House near Memorial Sloan Kettering over the past 12 months where he’s receiving costly and, often, painful ongoing treatment.
