Carmelite Feast

Tuesday, May 10th, 2016

Monday, May 16, 2016 is the feast of St. Simon Stock and the Our Lady of Mount Carmel community will be celebrating the feast at the 8:30 a.m. Mass.  The Academy students will attend, the Church will be open and Carmelite scapulars will be available throughout the day.

Saint Simon Stock, an Englishman who lived in the 13th century, was an early prior general of the Carmelite religious order. Little is known about his life with any historical certainty. The Blessed Virgin Mary is traditionally said to have appeared to him and given him the Carmelite habit, the Brown Scapular. Thus, popular devotion to Saint Simon Stock is usually associated with devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
