Contrition, Confession, and Satisfaction:
The Three Acts Needed for a Good Confession Contrition
Regret for sins committed and the resolution not to do them again. This involves an examination of our conscience. Confessing our sins to a priest opens us to reconciliation. We look at our sins and take responsibility
for them. Most of our sins injure others and we need to repair the harm. Our sins also have a negative effect on our own souls. The penance we receive from the priest is meant to offer a step towards our self improvement.
