Letter from Fr. Dan

Thursday, February 16th, 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

Lent is not quite here yet, but it is coming close with the observance of Ash Wednesday on March 1.

This Lent we will be offering a month-long Lenten Mission that I hope will speak to you and invite you to an ever-deeper relationship with God and help you walk the Christian path in our twenty first century world.  We are trying to make Lent a blessed season for each of us. I would like to give you a heads-up about our Lenten programs:

The theme of our Mission is “OLMC Calls YOU to Holiness.” This theme will dominate the month of March at every weekend Mass.  Our four ordained staff members, Fr. Emmett, Deacon Lex, Deacon Michael and myself will each preach on this theme one weekend at all Masses in March.  Our homilies will be especially well prepared, and each will last about 12 minutes.  We will also make them available on our website.

The Mission will culminate with our Lenten Parish Penance Service on Tuesday, March 28 at 7 PM here at Mount Carmel.

Also, during Lent we will be having book reviews each Monday night at 7:30 in the Titus Room.  The presenters will be authors from Our Lady of Mount Carmel:  Fr. Stephen Fichter, Tom Rinaldi, Deacon Lex, and Dr. Joseph Yang.  Each one is a published author and we are inviting you to an up close appreciation of the many talents in our midst.

We will also be presenting parishioner Sharyn Tondel’s program of prayerful yoga entitled Prayer of Heart and Body for Women. This program will be held on Tuesdays from 7 PM until 8 PM in the Titus Room beginning March 14 and continuing beyond Lent through April 18.

We are all called to holiness.  I hope you will journey with us this Lent during our parish Mission.

Sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

fr. Dan
