Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,There is big news this week!

After 38 years of faithful and dedicated service to our parish family and our school children, Peter Coll, our director of music, has informed me of his intention to retire at the end of February this year.

Peter has been the musical voice of Mount Carmel for almost four decades. For many of us he has also been the face of the parish, at weekend liturgies, at weddings and especially funerals.

Speaking for myself, I want to stress that Peter has been patient, gracious and very easy to work with – no easy task working with a tone-deaf pastor.

I will let Peter share with you his post Mount Carmel plans as he sees fit.

Peter’s last weekend of service will be February 24−25. We will have a reception for him after the 12 Noon Mass that weekend in the auditorium from 1 until 3 PM.

We are lucky enough to already have Andrea Covais lined up to take over for Peter as of March 4. I will fill you in about Andrea and her talents in due course. Just know this: Andrea was Peter’s first recommendation to me, when we began to discuss his retirement.

Let each of us say this many times over in the next six weeks: Thank you, Peter! Thank you for giving your heart and soul and great talents to Mount Carmel for so many years.

Ad multos annos!

Sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

fr. Dan
