Divine Mercy Sunday GOSPEL MESSAGE Sunday, April 8th

John 20:19-31

“The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit…Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.’”

“Earlier in John’s Gospel, at the Last Supper, Jesus had promised the disciples that God would send them the Spirit…No wonder that this is the first thing Jesus does when he appears to the disciples after the Resurrection in John’s Gospel. He breathes on them and they receive the Holy Spirit, God’s gift—then and now—to all who believe.”
