A Message from George McKenna, Director of the Office of Concern…

“We at the Office of Concern Food Pantry are gearing up for our annual Thanksgiving food collection. I am writing to you to ask if you will join us in helping poor people enjoy a great American holiday.

For 38 years, volunteers at the Office of Concern Food Pantry have been assisting needy families in Bergen County with weekly supplementary food. Our food pantry is available on a weekly basis for 900 families living below the Federal Poverty Level. These families live in severe circumstances, with limited food stamps and the need to choose between paying housing rent, medical needs, and clothing. This leaves little money left over for food.

You may wish to contribute specific holiday foods such as cranberry sauce and other fixings, which is fine, but there are also three areas of year-round foods that are especially valuable: first, canned fruits and vegetables; second, pasta (spaghetti, rigatoni, etc.) and third, breakfast cereals.”
