This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, October 4th, 2018

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, October 7th is from Mark 10:2-16.

“And people were bringing children to [Jesus] that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them … ‘Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.’ Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.”

“What does it mean to ‘accept the kingdom of God like a child’ (Mark 10:15)? Does it mean that we should be immature in our faith, ignorant in our knowledge, and blind in our obedience? Or does it mean we must acknowledge that there are some things beyond human understanding? As intimate as our connection to God may be, we are still as dependent as a child is to her/his parents, so we are called to be as trusting as a child.”
