This Week’s Gospel Message

Saturday, November 24th, 2018

This Week’s Gospel message for Sunday, November 25th is taken from John 18:33b-37.

“Pilate said to Jesus, ‘are you the King of the Jews?’… Jesus answered, ‘You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.’”

“Both Pilate and the Jewish authorities hold assumptions that do not apply to his kingship. He is not the kind of Messiah the Jewish people were expecting, nor is he the kind of revolutionary who aimed to take political power by force. Jesus is beyond both, with a greater mission and a greater kingdom than either was expecting.”
