The Third Scrutiny on the Fifth Sunday of Lent is a ritual for the elect to be given a sense of sin and a spirit of repentance.

PARISH LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE

Tuesday, April 9

7 PM at OLMC Church

The parish communities of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Thérèse of Lisieux will gather together for our Parish Lenten Penance Service. There will be an opportunity for individual confessions.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

Friday, April 12

7 PM at OLMC Church

Join us for guided Stations of the Cross, including meditation and music. Anyone who wishes to pray the Stations of the Cross may do so anytime the Church is open. Prayer guides are available in the Church.

PALM SUNDAY

Sunday, April 14

Mass Times: 5 PM, 8 AM, 10 AM, 12 NOON

On this day the Church recalls Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem. Palm branches are blessed and the Passion of the Lord is read.

CONFIRMATION RETREAT & MASS

Sunday, April 14

10 AM to 4 PM at the Carmelite Spiritual Center

at St. Cecilia Church, Englewood

Confirmation candidates continue their journey toward the sacrament with opportunities to dive deep into their faith and have fun.

CHRISM MASS

Monday, April 15

8 PM at Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart

The Chrism Mass offers the faithful a solemn occasion to witness the blessing of oils and the consecration of the Sacred Chrism that will be used for Baptism, Confirmation and Anointing of the Sick. All are invited to attend this Mass at the Cathedral Basilica in Newark.

ACADEMY MASS & RETREAT

Wednesday, April 17

8:30 AM Mass followed by Retreat at OLMC

Academy students enjoy a day of service, prayer and fun. They have an opportunity to share their private faith, go to confession, and grow closer as a Catholic learning community.

HOLY THURSDAY

Thursday, April 18

Mass of the Lord’s Supper

7:30 PM

Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ. The priests and deacons of Our Lady of Mount Carmel invite you to participate in The Washing of Feet at this Mass. The Altar of Repose Pilgrimage to local churches follows Mass. Exposition & Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament follows Mass until 11 PM.

Friday, April 19

Outdoor Stations of the Cross

10 AM

Outdoor Stations of the Cross in memory of Sr. Trinity, MFIC will take place at the Franciscan Mission Convent, 253 Knickerbocker Road, Tenafly.

Ecumenical Walk

1 PM

The Ecumenical Walk starts at Episcopal Church of the Atonement, 97 Highwood Avenue, Tenafly. It is not necessary to complete the walk to participate.

Passion of the Lord & Holy Communion

7:30 PM

We commemorate the crucifixion of our Lord, Jesus Christ with a reading of the Passion according to Saint John.

HOLY SATURDAY

Blessing of Easter Food Baskets

12 NOON

The blessing of Easter foods on Holy Saturday has been an important tradition in many families of different ethnic backgrounds. We invite you to bring your baskets of food to the church at 12 Noon to be blessed.

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night

8 PM

By ancient tradition, this is the night of keeping vigil for the Lord. Join us for this beautiful liturgy as we recount the outstanding deeds of the history of salvation.
