Pastor’s Letter

Wednesday, May 8th, 2019

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

Blessings upon all who are mothers in our community. Blessings and good wishes to all our mothers elsewhere on this earth. Let us also not forget our mothers who have gone home to the Lord. We remember them all and love them still.

I want to remind you again about the service and dinner we will be having next Sunday afternoon, May 19 at 4:00 PM. Our guests will be members of the Jewish faith community of Temple Sinai. We are hoping for a hundred attendees and we are also hoping for a hundred of our own members to join in this important moment in the life of our parish.

We live in a world where people of all religious traditions have found their freedom to worship endangered and all too frequently violently attacked. We must say no to such hateful sin. And, those of us of good faith and good will cannot let such fears stop us from being true to what we believe about the common humanity of all God’s children.

Therefore, I urge you to RSVP and join us next Sunday. We will gather in our church at 4:00. After a brief prayer we will hear a presentation by Dr. Philip Cunningham. Then, we will go downstairs to our auditorium for dinner with our guests.

I am very grateful to those who are helping to make this proud event take place—Ed Imperatore, Gerry Kotch, Peggy Fine, Marge DeSavino and John Sullivan have been our steering committee since last fall. We are all indebted for their time and energy to this task. Our dinner menu is being carefully planned, as always, by Rose Ann Miglietta.

This is a moment of grace and of historical significance. Thank you being part of it and for being the church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

fr. Dan
