Catechetical Sunday – September 15
We recognize those individuals who are serving in Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s ministry of catechetics this school year. We are so grateful to all those who share the Catholic faith with the young people of our parish and academy families.

There will be a special blessing at the 10 AM Mass this weekend for all those who serve in our catechetical ministries. A parish coffee follows in the Auditorium. All are invited!
Why do we celebrate Catechetical Sunday?
In 1935, the Vatican published On the Better Care and Promotion of Catechetical Education, a document that asks every country to acknowledge the importance of the Church’s teaching ministry and to honor those who serve the Christian community as catechists. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has designated the third Sunday in September as Catechetical Sunday.
The catechetical theme for this year is “Stay With Us.” Those who the community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. This Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This Sunday is an opportunity for all of us to rededicate ourselves to this mission as a community of faith.
