This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, October 24th, 2019

This week’s Gospel Message for Sunday, October 27th is from Luke 18:9-14.

[Jesus said] “‘. . .for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.’”

“‘The one who humbles oneself,’ Jesus says, ‘will be exalted’ (Luke 18:14). Perhaps this is because the humble person is not seeking exaltation in the first place. Those who seek exaltation will never find it. Jesus, on the other hand, humbled himself to take on our humanity, then humbled himself further in dying on the cross.”Source:  Pastoral Patterns, Autumn 2019
