This Week’s Gospel Message

Wednesday, November 20th, 2019

This Week’s Gospel Message for Sunday, November 24th is from Luke 23:35-43

“Now one of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus . . . The other, however, . . . said ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ He replied to him, ‘Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.’”

“Repentance is a process. The sinner must acknowledge the sin and his/her sinfulness, then show remorse and ask for forgiveness. Once forgiven, the person can be reconciled with the one whom she/he hurt and with God. The first criminal wants a shortcut to salvation. He wants the Savior to save him the easy way. He does not realize that this is not the way salvation works.” Source:  Pastoral Patterns, Autumn 2019
