This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, January 2nd, 2020

This Week’s Gospel Message for Sunday, January 5th is from Matthew 2:1-12.

“When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is the newborn king of the Jews?’ . . . on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

“Like the magi, we also have the opportunity to come seek the Lord. It is a journey we make throughout our lives, looking for the Lord’s presence in the world, in our lives, in ourselves. Like the magi, who return home a different way, encountering the Lord often leads us to change course.” Source:  Pastoral Patterns, Winter 2019-2020.
