In the midst of a changing and sometimes painful world, it can be difficult to feel God’s presence. Yet at the deepest level we long for a more conscious experience of that presence and love.
Spiritual Direction is an ancient practice of the Church. It encourages us to hear God’s voice in the events of our day-to-day life and to respond to that call. It’s not really about being directed, but rather being encouraged to recognize and draw closer to God.
Spiritual Direction is carried out in the context of a one-to-one trusting and confidential relationship. The spiritual director is trained to be a guide who journeys with you and listens to your story with an ear for the movement of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Deacon Lex has been on staff at OLMC Tenafly since 1992. He is certified as a Spiritual Director by the Haden Institute and was trained at the Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre at Niagara Falls, Canada. He currently offers Spiritual Direction online over Zoom.
