Let Us Introduce You To A Few OLMC Academy Alumni!
We interviewed a few OLMC Academy alumni and asked them the following questions: (1) How many years were you at OLMC? (2) What is your hometown? (3) What is your favorite OLMC memory? (4) What was your favorite subject while at OLMC? (5) What is your advice to families interested in joining the Academy? (6) Do you feel your OLMC education prepared you for high school and beyond? Here’s what they had to say . . .
Meet Some of Our Academy Alumni
Ashley Colona
Class of 2001Ashley Colona
(1) I was a student at the Academy from K – 8.
(2) My hometown is Englewood.
(3) Christmas at the Academy was always memorable and while I was a student I never looked forward to anything more than the annual Christmas show! Each grade performed for the entire OLMC family, truly capturing the spirit of the holiday season.
(4) My favorite subject while at OLMC was Social Studies.
(5) My advice to families interested in joining the Academy is that when you enroll at the Academy you are gaining relationships that will stand the test of time within a true community of friendship. Well after graduation from the Academy I stayed involved with athletics, welcomed my former teachers (and now current colleagues!) to my wedding, and now I plan play dates with my former classmates’ children and my daughter.
(6) Absolutely! My OLMC education prepared me for high school and beyond. OLMC is committed to educating the whole person. There is no doubt in my mind that OLMC provided me with the strong foundation for success in high school, college, and my career.
Christian Ross
Class of 2018Christian Ross
(1) I started OLMC in Kindergarten.
(2) My hometown is Teaneck.
(3) There are so many favorite memories of OLMC that it is difficult to name just one, so here are my top three: Pep Rallies–Always a good time and a lot of excitement and fun! My eighth grade class trip was amazing. So many great memories! The nail-biting basketball games, especially when we won the Championship!
(4) My favorite subject while at OLMC was, hands down, Mrs. Paone’s Language Arts class. She taught the joy of reading.
(5) My advice to families interested in joining the Academy is that OLMC is a great school and home away from home. We were family and still are to this day.
(6) Absolutely! My OLMC education prepared me for high school and beyond. As with any incoming freshman, I was nervous when I entered Bergen Catholic High School. However, once the year began, I realized that my OLMC background prepared me for the next phase. There was no steep learning curve and I just picked up where I left off at OLMC.
Gabrielle Angresano
Class of 2008Gabrielle Angresano
(1) I was at OLMC for 10 years.
(2) My hometown is Closter.
(3) My favorite OLMC memory – too many to count, but probably being involved in the OLMC track program. It was a great foundation of athletics and friendship for me. I also loved the carnival, Christmas concerts, book fairs, and more!
(4) My favorite subjects at OLMC were English and History.
(5) My advice to families interested in joining the Academy is to immerse yourselves in the community! Volunteer to work events, fundraisers, sports and continue the OLMC traditions of charity and service. You’ll meet lifelong family friends with values such as yours!
(6) Yes, I feel my OLMC education prepared me for high school and beyond. All the rigorous assignments involving reading, writing, and presenting helped me in my transition to higher education. Most importantly, the foundation of my faith, the sacraments and God’s love for me and the world helped form my perspective on life after Mount Carmel.
