Lent begins on Wednesday, February 17th. Before Ash Wednesday, it would be helpful to assist your child to better understand the meaning of Lent. You can talk about how we can fast, pray and give alms in special ways throughout our lives but especially during the season of Lent. You can explain how we prepare ourselves during Lent to celebrate the glorious Resurrection of Jesus. Please check the parish web site for the Ash Wednesday schedule of masses and prayer services.
This holy season presents a good time for parents to share with children Lenten practices that have been observed in your family—such as special family prayer time each Sunday of Lent, or fasting and giving help and assistance to those in need.
The liturgical season of Lent calls us to pray, to fast, and to give alms. In this Lenten season we appreciate the full community of the universal Church—that includes your home, the school classroom, the parish, our diocese and the Church around the world. Lent is a good time for us to reflect on the unity of Christians in light of our common joy in the Lord’s Resurrection.
Let us walk the forty days of Lent together and with the Lord.

First Eucharist
A First Eucharist Parent Meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 24th at 1 PM and 7 PM in the Church. Parents whose children are preparing for this sacrament this year are required to attend this important meeting. Please choose one meeting time to attend.

Please be sure your child is registered to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist.
A copy of your child’s baptismal certificate is required if your child was not baptized at
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Confirmation
Teens preparing for Confirmation are required to attend preparation sessions that are being held virtually on Sundays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, unless otherwise noted.
There are no Confirmation Preparation Sessions scheduled during February.
