This Week’s Gospel message for Sunday, February 28th is from Mark 9:2-10.
“Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves. And he was transfigured before them . . . Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them; from the cloud came a voice, ‘This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.’”
“Jesus’ transfiguration gave Peter, James, and John a vision of him in glory. But it did not show the price he paid to get there. So unfortunately, they were not transformed by what they witnessed. They continued to misunderstand the kind of Messiah Jesus was. We know the price. We know how he was raised in glory to sit at the right hand of his Father. As we build the kingdom of God here on earth, we envision a world transfigured by God’s presence.” Source: Pastoral Patterns, Spring 2021
