Dear Friends,

Sr. Regina Chassar, SSJ

On April 4, 2021 we celebrate the Risen Lord- Easter Sunday. The Lord has risen and the Alleluia returns to the Church. There is an adult solemnity about Easter that is difficult for children. As parents and teachers, we must remember that some children do not understand why Easter is a greater feast/celebration than Christmas.

For parents, a baby’s birth is a close and immediate experience of joy. The feast of Christmas is easy to relate to children. The experience of death and resurrection, however, requires a more mature faith. Before we celebrate Easter, understanding the events of Good Friday is necessary. Young students have difficulty with understanding suffering and death. As parents and catechists, we can only prepare them for this faith experience by sharing our own sense of life and joy and excitement of Easter. We are an “Easter people,” an Alleluia community,” and young children must be brought into this special experience.

As parents you have played the most important role in your child’s learning this year. You put faith into action every day. It is your own commitment to living a faithful Christian life that has taught your child the most about our Catholic faith.

We have walked the Lenten journey and now we celebrate the Risen Lord!

Blessings for this Easter Season.
