This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, April 8th, 2021

This Week’s Gospel message for Sunday, April 11th  is from John 20:19-31.

“The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit…Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.’”

“Today’s Gospel features the story of ‘doubting Thomas,’ the apostle who refused to believe in the risen Christ until he saw him with his own eyes. But let us not overlook Jesus giving the Holy Spirit to the apostles, telling them ‘Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them.’ May we be a forgiving people, calling upon the Holy Spirit, whom we received in baptism, to extend that divine mercy to all in need of forgiveness, to all of us.” SOURCE: Pastoral Patterns, Summer 2021
