Dear Friends,
Among the glorious feast days of our Catholic faith, Corpus Christi is one of the richest! At this feast we celebrate the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic life. Pope Urban IV proclaimed the feast of Corpus Christi to the entire church. The pope sought the assistance of St. Thomas Aquinas to write the feast days liturgical text and hymns. The feast of Corpus Christi is celebrated on June 6th this year. On this feast day many churches have processions, eucharistic adoration and other devotions in honor of the Eucharist.
However, you choose to recognize and celebrate this miraculous feast, promise to pray to Jesus present in the Eucharist for all who follow the Lord and receive him at the Eucharistic Celebration. The Sunday obligation to attend Mass has been announced by Cardinal Tobin and begins the weekend of June 5-6th.
It’s summertime! No more e-learning, homeschooling or whatever sort of schooling the children have been working on this past year. Try some of these suggestions to make your summer a little more Catholic.
- Works of Mercy- Have an older child commit to helping a younger sibling get drinks and snacks.
- Corporeal Works- One that students can do: Feed the hungry- donate food to the church food drive.
- Pray for the sick- maybe a family member needs prayer.
- Explore Nature- Take a hike or a walk. Look for birds, insects and different king of planet. Enjoy God’s creation! Take care of the earth.
Summer Feasts: June 12th– Immaculate Heart of Mary, June 19th– Sacred Heart of Jesus, June 24th– Nativity of John the Baptist, June 29th– SS. Peter and Paul, Apostles,
July 16th– Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 31st– St. Ignatius of Loyola, August 15th– Assumption of Mary. The church calendar is filled with the Saints of God.
May this summer be filled with many graces and blessings. We will see you again in September. Enjoy.

END OF YEAR- BLESSING FOR CHILDREN
May God, watch over you
and keep alive in your heart
what you have learned this year.
Keep your mind on God.
Remember to pray often
and to celebrate your faith at home,
and at Mass with your family.
Keep your heart on God.
Never forget that God loves you
more than you know.
Show your love in return
by loving and caring.
Keep your faith in God.
Let all the joys of summer
remind you of God’s goodness.
Never forget that God
always forgives you
no matter what.
May the God of creation,
the God who comes to us in Jesus,
the God who dwells with us
keep us safe, happy and holy.
Amen.
