“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside you.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dear Parents and friends,

Sr. Regina Chassar, SSJ

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!! It happens every January. Our homes are still decorated with holiday decorations, yet stores are rushing to set up Valentine’s Day displays. You probably saw this between Christmas and New Year’s Day. The whole idea, of course, is to make the most of your willingness to spend something in preparation for the holiday.

Try something that will share our faith with our children even in the face of frenzied commercialism. Welcome the chance to help your child focus on love. In the early weeks of January, all acts of love and gift-giving that happened at Christmas are still fresh in your child’s memory. Now, on the heels of Christmas will come Valentine’s Day. This is a day for love and gift-giving, again and an opportunity to show that love to others. The close association of Christmas and Valentine’s Day actually serves as a way to continue an active focus on the theme of love and charity.

As you did at Christmas, talk about love and what it means and how we express it no matter what season it is. Sharing love begins at home and can go out to other each and every day by word and action.

The holiday colors of green and red turning to white and red is a great time for us to show our children that love knows no season.

Spread the love to all through words and action!

Blessings for this New Year,

Sister Regina Chassar, ssj
