This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, January 13th, 2022

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, January 16th is from John 2:1-11.

“There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. . .And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from. . .the headwaiter called the bridegroom and said to him, ‘Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now.’ Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs at Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.”

“A wedding is at the center of today’s Gospel. It is at this wedding feast that Jesus performs his first miracle, changing water into wine. Let us consider the miracle that takes place in our presence today—the bread and wine becoming Christ’s Body and Blood—and give thanks for the invitation we have been given to this Eucharistic feast.” SOURCE: Pastoral Patterns, Winter 2021-2022
