This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, May 12th, 2022

This Week’s Gospel message for Sunday, May 15th is from John 13:31-33a, 34-35.

“When Judas had left them, Jesus said, ‘Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and God will glorify him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.’”

“Jesus’ commandment to his disciples is a lot more challenging than just the warm fuzzy feeling we get when we think of loving one another. ‘Love one another,’ Jesus tells his disciples. No, Jesus commands his disciples to love one another. This is how everyone will know that they are his disciples. Jesus asks that we love one another in the way that he has loved us. This means we have to be willing to give of ourselves, to even lay down our lives for one another.” SOURCE: Pastoral Patterns, Summer 2022
