This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, May 19th, 2022

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, May 22nd is from John 14:23-29.

“Jesus said to his disciples . . . ‘The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.’”

“Jesus comforted [the apostles], telling them ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.’ The Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus in the Gospel and relied upon by the apostles in the first reading, extended the peace Jesus gives to all those whose hearts are troubled.” SOURCE: Pastoral Patterns, Summer 2022
