Holy Week 2016

The community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel celebrates, remembers and worships this Holy Week.

Palm Sunday Mass  – March 20, 2016 – 8 a.m. / 10 a.m. / 12 Noon

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the holiest of weeks in the Christian calendar. It also marks the day known as World Youth Day. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be celebrating, along with all the world’s faithful with Masses on Saturday, March 19th 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 20th at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12 Noon.

Holy Thursday Mass – March 24, 2016 – 7:30 p.m

The Mass of the Lord’s Supper marks the institution of the priesthood through Jesus’ washing of his apostle’s feet. This year our pastor, Fr. Dan O’Neill, O.Carm. celebrates this Mass washing the feet of parishioners on Thursday, March 24th at 7:30 p.m. There will also be exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 11:00 p.m. in the Church.

Good Friday Stations of the Cross – March 25, 2016 – 11:00 a.m.

On Friday, March 25th at 11:00 a.m. Sr. Regina Chassar, SSJ will lead a Stations of the Cross mediation. The Stations of the Cross, or the Via Crucis, is a traditional part of Lent and Easter for the Roman Church.

Good Friday Ecumenical Walk – March 25, 2016 – 1:00 p.m.

Join members from several Tenafly Christian congregations, members of the Tenafly Interfaith Association, for a walk from each house of worship. The walk begins at The Church of the Atonement (97 Highwood Ave, Tenafly, NJ 07670).

Good Friday Communion Service  – March 25, 2016 – 7:30 p.m.

The Celebration of the Passion of the Lord. Fr. Dan O’Neill, O.Carm. presides over the celebration on March 25th at 7:30 p.m. on one of the most important days of the Catholic calendar.

Holy Saturday Blessing of the Easter Food Baskets – March 26, 2016 – 12 Noon

Święconka, meaning “the blessing of the Easter baskets,” is one of the most enduring and beloved Polish traditions on Holy Saturday. With roots dating back to the early history of Poland, will be celebrated in the Church at 12 Noon.

Easter Vigil Mass – March 26, 2016 – 8:00 p.m.

The Easter Vigil Mass is Saturday, March 26th at 8:00 p.m. We are so blessed to have several new members entering the Church at this most holy of nights.

Easter Mass – March 27, 2016 – 8:00 a.m. / 10:00 a.m. / 12 Noon

Alleluia, He is Risen! Join us for one of our Easter Sunday Masses. After 40 days of lent, and the celebration of the passion and death of Christ, we rejoice because He is risen.  Easter Sunday Masses on Sunday, March 27th at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 12 Noon.
