Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,
There is so much good news today that I don’t know where to begin!
First, on November 7 the entire Archdiocese of Newark learned of the appointment of Cardinal-elect Joseph Tobin as our next Archbishop. Let us not be remiss in thanking Archbishop John J. Myers for serving us for the past 15 years. He bore the heat of the day during very difficult times for the American Church and we should thank him. The announcement of Cardinal Tobin’s appointment is meeting with widespread enthusiasm and I share it. This is a surprise beyond anyone’s speculation. Thank you, Pope Francis!
Also, many thanks to those of you who signed up for our parish ministries during our recruitment campaign over the past month. We had an overwhelming response from more than 180 parishioners! Everyone will be contacted by their ministry leader to direct you to your next step. We will be putting you into action soon!
