Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

It is already the Third Sunday of Advent with two full weeks left for Christmas preparation.  Today I would like to highlight two things.

First, you will meet in this issue of our bulletin and online the members of the Parish Finance Committee.  Though their profiles are light and newsy, each member of the Finance Committee is involved in the world of finance and brings lots of good experience and competency to the mission of guiding Mount Carmel.

This group is mandated by Canon Law to serve the local Church.   They meet every other month and more often, if needed.  They review the reports from our accountant and keep a constant eye on investments, as well as financial implications for future initiatives. At our December meeting, David Oaten was chosen to chair the Finance Committee for the next two years.  Thanks to each one of the members serving on this committee.

Next, I am concerned that you are aware of our Christmas schedule of Masses this year.  We have adjusted our recent practices:  On Christmas Eve there will be a 4 PM Mass in Church, 4:30 PM Children’s Mass in the Auditorium, a 6 PM Mass and a Mass at Midnight, both in the Church.  Our Masses on Christmas Day will be at our regular Sunday Mass times – 8 AM, 10 AM and 12 Noon.

Before closing, I would just like to remind everyone that today is the day to return gifts for our Giving Tree.  Thank you for your generosity in helping to bring joy to so many individuals through this outreach ministry.

Many thanks to all of you!  Happy Advent!

Sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

fr. Dan
