Volunteer Opportunities

There are four different ways to volunteer (see descriptions below) during OLMC’s Family Promise Shelter Program week between July 22-30. Click HERE to sign up for volunteer slots.

1. Provide and Serve Dinner 5:45 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

If you are providing dinner you can cook it at home and bring it to OLMC hot, you can have it catered and delivered to OLMC hot, or you can cook at OLMC, please provide for 14 people, the OLMC volunteers and our guests will be eating together that is why we ask that you cook for 14 people. While the dinners are up to interpretation please follow our general guidelines, that way we aren’t stuck with four nights of pasta in a row! We do not need dinner served on Thursday, July 27, 2017. Serving and providing dinner is preferred, but if you can not please mention that when you sign up!

2. Help Provide Family Entertainment 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Each evening we will need adults, teens and children to hang out with guests, play with children and socialize. Perhaps you can lead games with the kids in our Academy playground, perhaps we can read or sing songs? Perhaps you can give a manicure to our guest moms! Whatever you would like to do is great! If you do not want to lead anything but just be present that is great too! We need those volunteers providing this social time to also be responsible to put out cold, “grab and go” lunches. We do not need family entertainment provided on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

3. Be An Overnight Host 8:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.

We need at least two people (male or female) to stay overnight. Please bring your own sleeping bag/air mattress, toiletries, reading material, etc. Only one person needs to be up at a time, the team can sleep in shifts if they like. In the morning it is the overnight hosts that set up the cold, “grab and go” breakfast.

4. Set Up/Breakdown & Clean up–Morning

We need at least 4 adults (children w/adults welcome) to set up at the beginning of the week and to break down at the end.

There is a volunteer meeting hosted by Family Promise, director of volunteers, Ms. Margo Heller on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Titus Room. While not mandatory we hope you can make it so we can explain further and answer any questions you may have.
