Dear Family,
Please be reminded that the Celebration of First Reconciliation will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Two times are scheduled: 11:00 a.m. for families whose last name begins with A through H and 1:30 p.m. for families whose last name begins with I through Z.
Once your child has received First Reconciliation, we will begin the immediate preparation for First Eucharist. The Eucharist is the center of our Catholic life. It brings us together, unites us, and gives us the strength to live as the People of God. It is a sacrament of loving, caring and sharing. The reception of Eucharist is not a one-time event; it is a weekly celebration with the parish community.
The preparation process includes our First Eucharist Parent Meeting which will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Auditorium. Please choose one meeting time to attend. You will receive important information and preparation material at this meeting pertaining to your child’s First Eucharist.
Additionally, children continue to prepare for this sacrament at our First Eucharist Preparation Day on Saturday, April 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is a day of fun, faith-filled activities. Parent volunteers are needed to assist.
Finally, the Celebration of First Eucharist will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. Please notify the Religious Education Office of your First Communion date choice by filling out the bottom portion of this letter and returning it to us as soon as possible.
Also, if you have not yet formally registered your child for this sacrament, registration forms will be available at the meeting. Please be sure to provide the Religious Education Office with a copy of your child’s baptismal certificate if your child was not baptized at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
