100 Years of a Faithful Life!

Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

Former OLMC parishioner Louis Frank Magnabosco was born in Closter on January 19, 1918. He served in the Army as a marksman and worked in the New York (Brooklyn) Navy Yard as a welder helping to build the USS Missouri and USS Iowa. He married in June 1947 and settled in Tenafly. He built the house at 198 Jefferson Avenue where he and his wife lived until he retired and they moved to Toms River, NJ in 1979. He worked as a carpenter to support his family. He also snow plowed during the winter months. He is still independent and plays Bocci. Mr. Magnabosco shares with us some of his memories of Mount Carmel…

He and his wife joined OLMC around 1949-1950. Mount Carmel was a big client for his snow plowing business and he was also hired to do some carpentry repairs around the church. He remembers when his daughter Trisha made her First Communion and Confirmation. Mount Carmel used to have dances, special events, potluck dinners and get-togethers. “Those were always fun,” he recalls.

Asked what the secret to a long life is, he says: “Well, I think good genes for one. Drink V-8 juice every day! Eat healthy and a varied diet. Keep physically active. Keep a positive mental attitude.”
