Pastor’s Letter

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019

Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

I wish you a blessed and safe Memorial Day weekend. For some, this is the start of summer. Enjoy!

If I may, I need to remind you about a few financial topics since summer is so close and our church attendance is noticeably affected.

Your participation in Faith Direct ensures regular parish support even though you may be attending Mass at other churches on your summer travels. Thank you to 118 members of the parish who use Faith Direct.

We recently hosted a Deanery meeting of priests here at OLMC on May 12. The director of the Archdiocesan Development and Stewardship Office, Ivan Arocho, asked to be present because the Annual Appeal is way behind pace this year in many parishes.

We have pledged $56,000 toward a goal of $65,500. Obviously, if you are able to make a gift to the Archdiocese this year in any amount, you will be making a statement of support for the larger Church. I thank you for it.

Lastly, some are still fulfilling pledges to the Living Stones Appeal launched in 2016. We receive back 50% of what is contributed, less Annual Appeal amount. Thus far, we have already received $219,000 back to us. We will be using some of your gifts to renovate the kitchen in the auditorium this summer and to support our 2019 Medical Mission to Peru in late October.

Thank you for all the ways you are part of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Have a great summer!

Sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

fr. Dan
