This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, January 9th, 2020

This Week’s Gospel Message for Sunday, January 12th is from Matthew 3:13-17.

“Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. . .After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’”

“Before Jesus began preaching, teaching, and healing throughout Galilee and Judea, he came to John to be baptized. The spirit of God descended upon him and God’s voice called out, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’ As Christians, baptized with the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to carry on Jesus’ mission. Let us consider how God calls us to put our faith into action. May God be well pleased.” Source:   Pastoral Patterns, Winter 2019-2020
