Volunteer Opportunities

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020

During these hot summer days, OLMC has continued her commitment to serving others. We are currently have Church staff members and parishioners serving at three locations. The Office of Concern Food Pantry, World Central Kitchen at St. Cecila’s and The Center of Health and Human Services. There are many ways to help and volunteers can be scheduled a week ahead of time. Reach out to Elliot at eguerra@nullacademyolmc.org to sign up!

The Office of Concern

The Office of Concern at St. Cecilia is still in need of donations and if you’re interested in rising early and lifting things (teens we’re looking at you!) there are limited morning volunteer slots available. As for donations if you can provide our friends with any variety of frozen meat, canned fish (such as tuna), dry pasta, it would be a great help. The following are ways to help:

  1. Donate any frozen meat, canned fish, dry pasta, dry beans to the Office of Concern. You can drop it off at OLMC or we can pick it up at your home’s front steps!
  2. The Office of Concern has an URGENT REQUEST for size 3, 4, 5 and 6 diapers and baby wipes. If you are able in these difficult times, you can donate by either dropping the diapers off, have them shipped or send a donation to the Office of Concern earmarked “Diapers.” You could also donate on our website or on Facebook.
  3. Write a check payable to “OLMC” and mark it “Scrip” in the memo line. We will purchase supermarket gift cards (at no additional cost to you) to assist our Academy and provide the funds to the Office of Concern.
  4. Pray for our brothers and sisters in need.
  5. Donate supermarket gift cards in any amount!

World Central Kitchen

The international food relief organization World Central Kitchen founded by acclaimed chef Jose Andres is serving 400 meals a day with our partners at Family Promise of Bergen County. Volunteers are needed to serve, handing out meals, rain or shine in the parking lot of St. Cecila’s Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  1. Donate supermarket gift cards in amounts of $10.00 for those who are on line for meals if we run out.
  2. Pray for our volunteers and keep them safe.

Walk In Dinner Program

Join us everyday to serve our brothers and sisters at the Center for Health and Human Services in Hackensack from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. as we now make “to go” meals for our outdoor walk up meal and help make hundreds of servings for meals that are delivered to local motels where our brothers and sisters are quarantining during the pandemic. Only Church Staff members will deliver the meals.

  1. Donate food on August 26, 2020. Sign up coming soon!
  2. Pray for our local elected leaders that they will continue to be moved and continue to support our most vulnerable.
