This Week’s Gospel Message

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, February 7th is from Mark 1:29-39.

“When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him . . . ‘Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.’ So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee.”

“Jesus’ mission is not to sit and wait, but to go and do. Tellingly, before leaving Capernaum he goes to a deserted place to pray. It appears that his Father has reminded him of his mission. His mission is to spread the good news. He cannot stay in one place. He must go forth. So must we.” Source: Pastoral Patterns, Winter 2020-2021
