This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, March 4th, 2021

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, March 7th is from John 2:13-25.

“Since the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, as well as the money changers seated there . . . he said, ‘Take these out of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace’ . . . At this the Jews answered and said to him, ‘What sign can you show us for doing this?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.’”

“Jesus cleanses the temple of those who turned his Father’s house into a marketplace. John explains that when Jesus lashes out at those who profane the temple and then declares that he will raise it up in three days he is referring to the temple of his body. The Lord wants to cleanse us from all that prevents us from having a clear vision of God’s plan for our lives.” SOURCE: Pastoral Patterns, Spring 2021
