This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, May 9th is from John 15:9-17.
“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. . .This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.’”
“Today’s Gospel holds the formula to finding complete joy. Jesus states it forthrightly to his disciples: ‘love one another as I love you.’ He says this so that the pure joy he feels may also be in them. And now in us. Joy comes from a selfless attitude, from selfless action. It comes from loving others as we are loved. Our Lady of Fatima – “The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, between May 13 and October 13, 1917.
