“We Need One Another”

Thursday, May 13th, 2021

Pope Francis designated May 24, 2020 through May 24, 2021 as Laudato Si’ Year to commemorate the fifth anniversary of his landmark encyclical on the care for our common home. The following is an excerpt from Laudato Si’ and a reflection provided by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia.

Pope Francis’s Laudato Si’ #229: We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it.

Reflection: How convinced are you of these words? How does your life reflect the conviction “that we all have a shared responsibility for others and the world”?

“As Christians, we cannot simply stand by, stand by watching what is happening without doing anything. Something must change! Our families need to become more evident signs of God’s patient and merciful love, not only for our children and elders, but for all those in need.”

—Pope Francis
