This Week’s Gospel Message

Wednesday, February 9th, 2022

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, February 13th is from Luke 6:17, 20-26.

“And raising his eyes toward his disciples [Jesus] said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven.’”

“Jesus makes it clear that God blesses those who are hurting. We would be wise to transform out of our complacency, for God’s blessings are stronger than whatever we have gained in this world.”

World Marriage Day Sunday, February 13, 2022

Almighty and eternal God, You have so exalted the unbreakable bond of marriage that it has become a sacramental sign of Your Son’s union with the Church as his spouse.

Look with favor on those couples that you have united in marriage, as they ask for Your help and the protection of the Virgin Mary.

They pray that in good times and in bad they will grow in love for each other and that they will resolve to be of one heart in the bond of peace.

Lord, in their struggles let them rejoice that You are near to help and in their needs let them know that You are there to rescue them.

In their joys let them see that You are the source and completion of every happiness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
