Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Thursday, August 11th, 2022

The solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15) is not observed as a holy day of obligation this year according to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Liturgical Calendar.

Almighty ever-living God,

who assumed the Immaculate Virgin Mary,

the Mother of your Son,

body and soul into heavenly glory,

grant, we pray,

that, always attentive to the things that are above,

we may merit to the sharers of her glory.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God,

for ever and ever.

Amen.

“TAKEN UP INTO HEAVEN, MARY SHOWS US THE WAY TO GOD, THE WAY TO HEAVEN, THE WAY TO LIFE.” —Pope Saint John Paul II

“Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.” —Saint Maximilian Kolbe
