This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, September 1st, 2022

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, September 4th is from Luke 14:25-33.

“Great crowds were traveling with Jesus, and he turned and addressed them . . . ‘Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. . .In the same way, anyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.’”

“In uncompromising language Jesus tells the crowds that whoever wishes to be his disciple must make a total commitment. After all, the apostles left behind their families, their homes, and all their possessions to follow Jesus. As we look at our own commitment from a different perspective, let us pray for the grace to be worthy disciples of the Lord.” SOURCE: Pastoral Patterns, Autumn 2022
