This Week’s Gospel Message

Thursday, October 13th, 2022

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, October 16th is from Luke 18:1-8.

“Jesus told his disciples a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary…The Lord said, ‘Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?’”

“Prayer is what keeps us connected to God. It is no accident that Jesus spends a lot of time praying to the Father. Not only did Jesus teach his disciples how to pray, he showed them that he prayed, and prayed often. It connected him to the Father, and if he needed to make that connection often, how much more important is it for us? Persistent prayer will see to it that justice is done for us and God’s chosen ones. Persistent prayer helps us to understand and accept God’s will. Persistent prayer ensures that there will still indeed be faith on earth when the Son of Man comes.” SOURCE: Pastoral Patterns, Autumn 2022
