Carmel Spotlight on Service

Thursday, January 19th, 2023

The Parish Community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel extends a heartfelt thank you to Dolores Miller for her many years of outstanding and tireless service to our school and parish. We now welcome Jennifer Schippert in her new role as Parish Trustee.

Thank You, Dolores Miller!

Dolores Miller

Dolores has always been an integral part of our parish and school life. A parishioner since 1966, she and her late husband Donald (Don) raised six children, all of whom are proud graduates of OLMC! As a young mother she quickly joined the school’s PTA and helped launch many successful fundraisers, bringing together both the school and parish communities. In fact, Don and Frank Tarsney are credited with bringing the carnival, which lasted many years, to OLMC. Dolores’s service didn’t stop at the school level. She served on the first parish council and continued to serve throughout the years on the various advisory boards. Because of her years of service and love of our parish, Dolores was elected as the third Parish Trustee and served with pride until November 2022. Though she is stepping back from her official roles of service, Dolores has plenty to keep her busy. She begins her day at daily Mass sitting in her favorite pew, attends the OLMC Book Club, and has a very blessed family life. After all, she is not only a mother but also a grandmother to 22 and great grandmother to 24!! Thank you, Dolores, for all you have done and continue to do for our parish community!

Welcome Jennifer Schippert, Parish Trustee!

Jennifer Schippert, Parish Trustee

I am a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish for over fifty years. I attended OLMC School for seven years and have received all of my sacraments here at OLMC. This summer my husband Steve and I will celebrate twenty-five years of marriage and worshiping with our family here at OLMC. I have been an active member of the parish with my first role being a teen representative on the parish council. Over the past fifteen plus years, with the help and support of my husband and my daughter Allison, I have served as a minister of the Eucharist, a catechist for Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and chaired the Friends of Siena House committee supporting and raising much needed funds and items for the residents of Siena House in Bronx, NY. In addition to my faith-based activities, I am the mother of two dachshunds (Coco and Thumann), an avid reader, classic television connoisseur, Bruce Springsteen “fan-atic”, and I spend many weekend hours in the kitchen cooking up dinners for family gatherings and celebrations,

“The LORD bless you and keep you! The LORD let his face shine upon you,

and be gracious to you!  The LORD look upon you kindly and give you peace!” Numbers 6:24-26
