We began our Journey through Lent on February 22nd . During the month of March the Church will honor great saints. Even though we celebrate the saints, we still focus on our Lenten resolutions.
One of the great solemnities we celebrate in March is the Annunciation of the Lord. This day marks a holy moment in God’s plan for our salvation. The Gospel proclaims on the Annunciation that the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced that she would conceive and bear a son-Jesus.
Here in the middle of Lent we have the opportunity to reflect on Mary’s deep faith in God. Mary said “yes” to God. She served God in accepting her role as the mother of Jesus. We can be like Mary during Lent, and always, by saying “yes” to God’s will.
WE PRAY:
Loving God, you give us these days of Lent to prepare for the Resurrection. For 40 days we pray, fast and give so that we are ready to celebrate. Help me to give these days to you so that I grow closer to you and to your Son. Please give me the wisdom to know how to live out this time AMEN.
May our Lenten Journey be filled with time for prayer and reflection as we move through each day.
