World Day of Prayer for Vocations

Thursday, April 20th, 2023

The 60th Annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be observed this Sunday, April 30, the Fourth Sunday of Easter. Because of the imagery in today’s Gospel, today is popularly known as Good Shepherd Sunday. The purpose of this observance is to take seriously the Lord’s instruction: “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest” (Luke 10:2). We invite you to watch a brief video presentation by Brother Roberto Reyes, O.Carm., a third year theology student with the Carmelites at Whitefriars Hall in Washington, DC. Brother Roberto reminds us that Jesus Christ is the ultimate shepherd of the people who calls us to be part of his flock. He is calling young people today to be modern day shepherds in the Church. Brother Roberto tells us about his call to serve God as a Carmelite.
