Hey OLMC, check it out! The CYO Athletic Recognition Awards were held last week at the Cathedral in Newark. Bishop Sapporito was the presider of a Mass honoring athletics throughout the Archdiocese. OLMC players Robyn and Oliver both won, along with OLMC Coach Marc Celli. Read a little about the Awards below and check out the photos!
The Youth Parish/School Sportsmanship Award is presented to an athlete who displays outstanding sportsmanship through service or actions on and off the athletic field in their parish or school community. Our two athletes were Robyn , 8th grader at AOLMC – for Volleyball, and Oliver , 8th grader parishioner – for basketball.
The Adult Parish School Discipleship Award is presented to express appreciation and gratitude to adults who have demonstrated a commitment to young people and athletics in their parish or school community. Our choice for this award was Marc Celli, who has been a basketball coach at OLMC for 13 years and has decided to retire after this season.
