OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL CHURCH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OFFICE

APRIL, 2024

Dear Friends,

We just celebrated EASTER: THE GREAT FEAST! There is an adult solemnity about Easter that is difficult for children to comprehend. Our catechists must remember that some children do not understand why Easter is a greater feast than Christmas.

For most people, a baby’s birth is a close and immediate experience of joy. The feast of Christmas is easy to relate to children. The experience of death and resurrection, requires a more mature faith.

Advance preparation for the Easter ceremonies are essential. In this age of electric lights, the paschal candle is not as dramatic a phenomenon as it was in the past. Water and oil are not obvious signs of life and healing in today’s society.

Since Easter is the beginning of the paschal season, we celebrate throughout this season with stories about life being restored! Jesus died on the cross. Jesus, passed from death to life. The Alleluia returns to our celebration of the Liturgy.

We give praise and thanks for Our Savior, Jesus Christ, who brought new life through his death and resurrection. Amen

Blessings for the Easter Season. The ALLELUIA has returned!
