This Week’s Gospel Message

Saturday, May 11th, 2024

This week’s Gospel message for Sunday, May 12, 2024 is from Mark 16:15-20

Jesus said to his disciples: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.”. . .So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God.  But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.

Reflection

“When Jesus ascended to be with the Father, he ascended to a state beyond life and death, beyond sickness and suffering.  This is now our hope.  We look forward to when we are raised to a place beyond life and death, beyond sickness and suffering, beyond sin and imperfection, beyond hate and evil.  Now it is our mission to bring that hope to others, to proclaim the Good News.” SOURCE:  Pastoral Patterns, Summer 2024
